kum or kam expresses an unreal possibility.

Hamakus kadim hadagaan mataliin an}a}iqangis matalgal aguum, wayaam kum tukum angunaa malgaku{. If we had lived like they lived in the early days, we would have had great wealth now.

Unangam alu}I{taalangis ngus ta}aya{tana{ aguung kum, anguna}ulax kum imis hing (hi{tang) aku{. If I had tried to learn how to write Aleut, I could have a little to tell you (but I did not learn it).
