A Bull Somewhere

"When I first moved to Marshall in 1994, Larry, Ron, Zena, Cheryl and I went camping up river. We left on an August afternoon, and by the time we got to the campsite, which was on a long sand bar, it was nearly dark. We pitched the tent, then gathered fire- wood. When it got late we all stuffed ourselves and our belongings into the tent and fell asleep while listening to a portable radio. The next day we went riding through the sloughs, stopping every once in awhile to do some fishing with our rods and reels. Once while we were driving along I saw a cow moose on the shore in front of the willows for her. We stopped and watched her until she wandered off into the trees. Larry figured that there was probably a bull waiting someplace in the willows for her, so we left them alone and went to check other sloughs."
