My Dad's Fun Spring Camping

This spring my dad went out camping with John Tikiun Sr. They went to Five Day Slough where they stayed in a little log cabin built by Paul Coffee and some of his relatives and friends. They used my little boat and my Johnson 9.9. My boat is only 10 feet long and three feet wide. They camped for about a week in the area and hunted for muskrats while they were there. They also hunted for eggs but they couldn't find any.

For two days John and my dad followed in a slough behind the cabin for a long ways. They went hunting during those two days and they saw many animals, such as, beavers, muskrats, ducks, geese, and some swans. My dad said they caught 30 or 40 muskrats altogether. They skinned all their muskrats and dried them.

On their way home they ran into some Ice jams inthe slough, but my dad says he had a lot of fun spring camping and he hopes to go again this coming spring. I hope I can go with him this time.
