Curriculum Resources for the Alaskan Environment

  • Develop the basic skills of ceramics:

    hand building

    throwing

    glazing

    tiring.

  • Learn to play chess.
  • Draw chess-set designs with a particular theme in mind:

    indigenous human population

    animals

    genealogical

    historical

    village politics.

  • Complete the design with a color scheme and three-side view drawings.
  • Hand build the pieces, glaze, and fire.
  • Build molds for the pieces if you have an interest in marketing.
