The Life of the Land
Module One

Mapping your Bioregion

Some background considerations

Criteria for determining a bioregion
Definition of a bioregion
Indigenous cultural boundaries
Linguistic boundaries
Biotic shift
Watershed boundaries
Land forms
Sea pathways
Land-sea-air migration patterns
Subsistence techniques

This module is really the merest sketch of what might be done to map our bioregions.  The module was taught once by Ron Scollon and students found it very absorbing just to try to outline on a world map bird migration patterns and human migration patterns for their region of Alaska.  Nevertheless, just that much was a very stimulating task.
