Angeline Picked Berries With A Bear

This summer Angeline Coffee did many tthings. Some of them were, camping, fishing, cutting fish and picking berries.

She went camping at Chuilnguq sometime in July. While she was there she tried out fishing with a rod and reel. While she was camping she also cut some pikes and one little King salmon.

Sometime in early August she went berry picking inside Takcak. Many of her family went with her, including Daisy Coffee, Agnes Boliver, Paul Coffee, Walter Pitka and Barbie Fitka-Duny. They walked far out onto the tundra to pick blue berries. While they were picking they saw a brown bear a little further back from where they were. They watched it for awhile to check if it would come any closer to them. It didn't, so they just kept on picking. Angeline said that there were too few berries so they went back to the bank and had a little snack. After they ate they moved to another spot with more berries. While they were picking berries it started to rain and they came back home.

Angeline also went berry picking in Kuik, although she said it took a long time to get to the spot. It started to rain again and they came back to the bank where Angeline said there were lots of berries. There were also a lot along the tree line because that is where the last snow melted in the spring. It was such a dry summer there were very few berries on the tundra. Even there she only picked three quarts of berries because of the rain. Angeline said that she liked being outside and that she enjoyed her summer.
