WHAT TO TEACH:

OVERVIEW

Students will continue to learn how to make a composite map, and will learn to make a map key.

MATERIALS:

1. maps from student interviews.

2. composite map begun yesterday.

HOW TO TEACH: Preparation

Discuss the need for a map key, and explain what information will be included on the key.

Class Activity

While some students complete the composite map, others will work on a key.

Bringing it

all together

Discuss the finished map. Does it give you valuable information? Will it tell people what you want to tell them about the use of these two resources? Is it clear and readable? How could it be of value to the village?

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS Don't forget!

This lesson may take more or less time, depending on how far along students are in making their composite map(s). Teachers may needto either extend the discussion, or take an extra day to finish the map(s).
