WHAT TO TEACH:

OVERVIEW

1. Introduce project.

2. Use game to teach about traditional Yup'ik resource base and subsistence strategies.

MATERIALS:

PITENGNAQSARAQ Board Game.

HOW TO TEACH:

1. Teacher should be familiar with game and rule book

Preparation (English version may be found in Teacher's Guide, this unit).

2. Give class some basic information about Yup'ik life before

Kass'aqs came; emphasize points mentioned in Teacher's Guide.

(DAYS 1-5).

3. Introduce and explain board game.

4. If necessary, divide class into groups of up to five players.

Class Activity

Up to five students can play the game. Others can watch.
