MOOSE HUNTING IN RURAL ALASKA

The moose is a vital part of Native Athabascan life the entire moose is used for food even the head and feet. The skin is used for making gloves, vests and ordamental jewelery. The tanned moose skin has a unique odor of smoke from the cureing process. The kidneys is a deliacy as well as the head.

After the moose is shot the real work begins. Cutting the moose is a
lot of work but easy with two or more men but hard working alone.
