Dedication

This book is for my Iñupiat people, with whom I will always be in service. For the Elders who have shared their knowledge with me and who trust that the younger generations will endure. For the friends I have made living in Golovin, I hope that our friendship lasts far into the 21st century. For the children where all my hope lies. They are the seeds of tomorrow waiting to sprout, ready to feed out hearts, minds, and souls. There is nothing without children. And this book is especially for Dwight, my nephew, who will do great things.
